zoe crooks is a washington, dc-based interior designer and artist whose work explores abstract expressionism through small-scale studies, primarily made on three by five index cards. created at her coffee table - often between design projects and beside a half-finished iced coffee - her pieces draw from architecture, travel, and her own eye for color. each work is an instinctive capture of whatever she’s seeing, feeling, or fixating on in the moment: concise, intuitive snapshots of her world, sometimes created simply because it felt right.
her practice extends into collage and painted photographic work, where layers of image and mark-making build into compositions. the marks shift across formats with the same natural clarity - confident, responsive, and decisively gestural. across mediums, the work holds a quiet immediacy shaped by the rhythm of her everyday life: pieces that feel considered, layered, and unmistakably hers.
